Hot water heating is the ideal entry point into the world of solar energy and currently saves many home owners money regardless of the method used pay for the installation. The typical household will save money on their monthly electricity bill, while they reduce their carbon footprint by doing nothing more than moving their hot water system to solar.

The climate change crisis is already happening and we at Select Solar believe strongly in helping people to reduce costs while making a positive change. Select Solar provides hassle free, no obligation proposals at very competitive rates. A hot water heating installation typically takes less than a day and savings are immediate.

Coastal Areas

The direct system is used in frost-free locations, where the ambient temperature never falls below 5°C and where the water quality is good (less than 600ppm Total Dissolved Solids/Minerals). The system is used with one or two Solar Collector Panels dependant on the capacity of the Solar tank.

The direct system, is where the water to be used in the household (hot water) circulates through the solar collector panels, transferring solar energy into the storage tank of the solar water heater.

The direct system can be installed as a Split System (pumped or thermosyphoned circulation methods), where the solar water heater is installed inside the roof or away from the solar collector panels or installed as a Close Coupled System (thermosyphon circulation), where the solar water heater is installed outside on the roof and above or higher than the solar collector panels (see section Circulation Methods).

    Inland and Coastal Areas

This direct system can be used in frost and frost-free locations and where the water quality
is good (less than 600ppm Total Dissolved Solids/Minerals).

The direct system, is where the water to be used in the household (hot water) circulates through the solar vacuum tubes manifold, transferring solar energy into the storage tank of the solar water heater.

This direct system is installed as a Close Coupled System (thermosyphon circulation), where the solar water heater is installed outside on the roof and above the solar vacuum tubes.

      Inland Areas

The indirect system is used in locations where frost occurs, where the ambient temperature falls below 5°C and where the water quality is poor (more than 600ppm Total Dissolved Solids / Minerals). The system can be used with one or two Solar Collector Panels dependent on the capacity of the solar tank.

An indirect system is where the potable water used in the household (hot water) does not circulate through the solar collector panels, but remains in the solar water heater and is heated through a heat exchanger around the vessel. Propylene glycol is circulated through the solar collector panels, transferring solar energy into the heat exchanger and in turn heating the water in the solar water heater.

        Details

This particular direct system is used in both frost and frost free locations and where the water quality is good (less than 600ppm Total Dissolved Solids/Minerals).

The direct system is where the water to be used in the household (hot water), circulates through the vacuum tube manifold, transferring solar energy into a storage vessel.

        WHY SOLAR?
        __

We offer hot water heating and electricity generation packaged in a way that makes domestic and commercial solar installation very attractive from a financial point of view.

        Reduce your energy costs

With electricity prices constantly rising, more and more households are making the switch to energy saving alternatives, such as solar hot water heating, energy saving lighting and solar PV (photo voltaic – electricity for appliances) systems. As electricity prices continue to increase (as coal prices rise, and with mismanagement and unprecedented corruption at Eskom), solar power becomes less expensive (as silicon prices fall, and supply and demand forces drive costs down).

        Solar is free energy

Once your solar energy system has been installed, the sun’s energy is absolutely free, allowing you to enjoy considerable savings on your electricity bills. The end goal could be to have alternative green energy supplying all of your electricity needs, giving you total control of your energy security and zero reliance on Eskom.

        Solar energy is green

Solar electricity is a renewable resource which won’t run out. A 200lt solar geyser provides enough hot water for a family of 4. A 1kw PV system generates approximately 25% of the electricity used in the average household (depending on your location). Smart Energy Solar Systems can be tailored to meet part or all of your electricity needs.
